Equity Bank Uganda inducts 100 students into its flagship Equity Leaders Program (ELP.

In a bid to transform and creat meaningful livelihoods in various communities across the country,  Equity Bank Uganda is urging its  scholars to root their leadership in service and responsibility, using their education by creating positive impacts  in their communities.

This was disclosed by Dr Patrick Muinda, the commissioner for Library, E-Learning and Information Technology at the Ministry of Education and Sports while officiating at the  commissioning of  100 scholars into the fifth cohort of Equity Bank’s flagship Leaders Program (ELP)

The programme provides scholars with mentorship, leadership training, and exposure to global opportunities, transforming them into change-makers within their communities.

The newly commissioned scholars join 412 previously admitted students, bringing the total number of ELP graduates since the program’s inception to 512. The scholars were selected on the basis of outstanding performance in the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education examinations.

Speaking on behalf of Equity Group CEO Dr James Mwangi, non-executive board director Henry Rugaamba highlighted the transformative power of opportunity, noting: “Excellence is not determined by geography, background, or circumstance — it exists in every community.”

commended Equity bank for its commitment to empowering the next generation and fostering innovation across diverse sectors.

He urged scholars to root their leadership in service and responsibility, using their education to create meaningful impact in their communities. Equity Group Foundation Board Director Sam Bwaya challenged the newly commissioned scholars to uphold excellence, discipline, and integrity, reminding them that they now serve as ambassadors of the program’s values.

These include Harvard University, New York University, the University of Waterloo, and institutions in China, India, Russia, and Germany.
