Members of the public are being upon to join hands in promoting road safety,learning how to administer first aid in a bid to reduce on road accidents and injuries arising from reckless behaviour on the roads.
This was disclosed by the Uganda redcross society secretary General Mr Robert Kwesiga at the Grand finale of the safe steps Phase 111 campaign held at Nakawa vocational training institute.

The campaign covered the Kampala Metropolitan Area comprising the five Kampala divisions: Central, Makindye, Rubaga, Nakawa, Kawempe — plus neighbouring areas/towns in Wakiso District, Entebbe and Mukono District.
In Phase II and beyond, the campaign expanded into other parts of the country includeding Mityana District, Masaka District, Mbale District and Mbarara District.
Campaign execution in 2022-2023 had 4000 riders trained, in 2023-2024 – 8000 were trained while in 2024-2025 -6000 riders have been trained.

“As of mid-2025 (Phase III launch), the campaign continued active training in Kampala Metropolitan Area, Mukono & Entebbe, Mbale, Masaka and Arua District” says Mr Kwesiga.
Sythia Bindeba the assistant Commisioner railway transport safety and regulation at the Ministry of works and transport says Government plans to widen the roads in order to improveon the safetyof all road user’s.

The colourful event was jointly presided over by Uganda Police and funding partners, Prudential insurance.
