As part of the project titled “Strengthening the Maize Value Chain’s Compliance and Competitiveness in Gulu and Amuru,” implemented by SEATINI Ugandain partnership with TradeMark Africa, this journey has been deeply participatory and inclusive.
The development of the by-laws for Paicho sub county in Gulu District and Guru Guru sub county in Amuru District reflects months of meaningful consultations with farmers, traders, millers, cooperative societies, district technical teams, and political leaders.

The by-laws were rigorously debated, revised, and formally approved through transparent processes.
Herbert Kafeero, Programs and Communications Manager, SEATINI Uganda says  these by-laws are more than legal instruments, they are tools for transformation.
They aim to enforce standards and promote best practices in maize production, handling, storage, and marketing. They will enhance traceability, build consumer trust, and improve the marketability of our maize both domestically and regionally.
