Following the recent  launch of the review of the Uganda Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) policy (2015), and the National Standards & Quality Policy (2012) many African countries are being called upon to emphasise  best practices and standards of their products in order to be able to compete on the global market.

This was disclosed by Masagazi deogracious as he represented the Minister of state for Trade Wilson Mbadi at the launch of the review of the Uganda Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) policy (2015), and the National Standards & Quality Policy (2012).

The call has however faced serious criticism as most industrialists say they are producing below capacity because of unreliable power supply.

The consultative meeting that took place at 4 points by Sheraton Hotel in Kampala brought together stakeholders from the Government of Uganda, private sector players, and development partners.
Khadija Nakakande the spokesperson at the ministry of Trade Industry and Cooperatives says how ever that government has committed more funds to stabilise electricity supply in the shortest time to come.
As the conference concludes with the launch of the Good Governance Guide for Uganda’s Quality Infrastructure Institutions, this now kick starts the process of reviewing and updating the 2 policies to align them with the current trends in development, the National Development Plan IV, and Uganda’s Vision 2040.

The consultative meeting was organized by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives in partnership with Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN Uganda), Cascade, The Kingdom of Netherlands, International Trade Center
