The newly appointed Israeli Ambassador to Uganda, His Excellency Gideon Behar, has held talks with General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations. The meeting took place at the Special Forces Command headquarters in Entebbe.
During the discussions, General Kainerugaba Characterised Uganda-Israel relations as rock solid. The CDF noted that: “We have been cooperating as friends and allies for many decades and we shall continue to do so in the years to come”.
The ambassador, who presented his credentials to President Yoweri Museveni , was accompanied by his wife Eke Behar and the Honorary Consul of Israel to Uganda, Ishta Asiimwe Kutesa Muganga.

This engagement continues a pattern of high-level interactions, as General Kainerugaba has previously held meetings with the former Israeli ambassador, underscoring a sustained commitment to deepening ties between the two nations.
Ambassador Behar, who is based in Nairobi, expressed gratitude for the meeting and affirmed Israel’s commitment to continued collaboration with Uganda.
The two countries share robust bilateral relations across multiple sectors, including security, agriculture, and technology transfer—marking a significant evolution from the diplomatic strains of the 1970s.
The growing partnership is further reinforced by strong interpersonal connections among leadership and regular high-level visits.
