INDIA-How Uganda emerged the best exhibitor at the Outbound Travel Market (OTM) Tourism Expo.

Following the just concluded Outbound Travel Market (OTM) Tourism Expo in India,Uganda has positioned its seld as an alternative tourism destination in Africa. At the Exhibition Uganda showcased its unique products ranging from primate tracking, bird watching cultural heritage, safaris, and adventure tourism.
Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs says the OTM Tourism Expo is an annual event that attracts numerous sellers and buyers of tourism products.
This year’s activities were held from January 30 to February 1, 2025 where the event placed Destination Uganda at the forefront of the potentially largest tourism and travel market in the world.
Uganda had Nine Ugandan Destination Marketing Companies (DMCs) participating in the expo,with the recent launch of Uganda Airlines’ direct flights between Entebbe and Mumbai since October 2023 that incentivized travel to Uganda for tourism, trade, and investment.

At the exhibition Uganda’s pavilion was evaluated as the best exhibitor based on a pre-determined criterion that included clientele feedback. The country emerged as the most visited and highly rated stand by outbound and inbound tourism market sellers and buyers

These comprised of Busunga Tours & Travel Ltd, Moments Beyond Borders, Country Sights, Nandi Adventures, Ameera Africa Safaris, Speke Uganda Holidays, Crystal Safaris & Lodges, and Uganda Safari Company (Wild Places Africa).

According to the ministry of Foregn Affairs, the Uganda High Commission in New Delhi in the next two months will organize a familiarization trip for leading tour operators from India.
The trip will target influencers who include travel and tour magazines Bollywood film actors, and producers, to promote Uganda’s tourism industry.
The Ministry of foregn affairs says the New Delhi Mission will ensure that tourism contributes to Uganda’s economic growth ambitions with the aim of increasing the economy 10-fold to USD 500 billion within the next 15 years.
