Government workers to loose jobs over un sanctioned study leaves/Holiday.

Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health Diana Atwine is appealing to government worker’s across the country to always follow standing procedures before going on study leave or Holidays.
This comes amidst complaints of many absentees in government schools and health facilities due to study leaves reportedly undertaken by government workers.
Diana Atwine says the practice has affected service delivery in Government facilities.
She proposes that those who go without following procedures should be dismissed and replaced immediately.

Ben Kumumanya, the PS for Local Government, has cautioned teachers against resorting to industrial strikes, saying such actions affect the performance of the students.

The Ministry of Health PS was addressing District, /Municipal Council Education, and Health Officers in an engagement meeting at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala where they jointly with the Ministry of Local Government listened to challenges being faced at Districts.

Ben Kumumanya the Permanent Secretary Ministry oflocalGovernment highlighted the critical role of ethics and professionalism in public service.

He has pointed out that, under the Public Service Act, 2008, officers are expected to remain loyal to the Government, provide impartial advice, and perform their duties with transparency and accountability.

The PS urged Education Officers to guide teachers to seek dialogue and lawful channels instead of abandoning classrooms, especially in the third term when students need their teachers most. “Industrial action at such a critical time is not good and it is not in line with the Constitution,” he said
