Gen. (Rtd) Caleb Akandanwaho, alias Salim Saleh has expressed the need for the country to revise the way the land is being utilized in Kampala in order to create more value and increase production through various economic activities.
Gen. (Rtd) Caleb Akandanwaho, alias Salim Saleh made the remarks while presiding over the Opening of Musenomics Conference 2025.
The conference is focusing on Value Addition , Industrialization and the Cost of doing Business in Uganda .
According to Gn Saleh the stimulies used to resurrect the economy need serious review to specifically focus on maximizing land use in Uganda.
initially the stimulies comprised security of persons and property,privatization and liberalization and return of Asian property.
“in the last ten years i have led Operation Wealth Creation , a challenge of including Ugandans in the money economy,we were able to reduce people outside the money economy from 68% to 39% and i hear even poverty levels have gone lower”says Gen Saleh.
However Gen Saleh urgues that the Nation needs to understand the land use balance sheet in order to understand how to maximally utilize the land,a key factor of production in order to achieve the 10 fold growth for Uganda.
At the end of the conference,a report is expected to be produced in order to give a proper direction of growth to the country.
President Yoweri Museveni is expected to make a presentation today and close the conference.
