In a bid to strengthene partnership with Kiira Motors Corporation.
Makerere University has acquired three modern buses from government owned Kiira Motors Corporation.
Ofvthe buses two are diesel-powered while the third is an electric bus, specifically brought to ease mobility of students and staff with special needs across campus.
According to Makerere University vice Chancellor professor Barnabas Nawangwe the coincides with the core values of inclusivity, equity, and care for all member of the university community.
By ensuring that every student and staff can fully participate in academic life, Makerere continues to create a learning environment where everyone can thrive,says Nawangwe”.
He says the University partnership with Kiira Motors Corporation reflects Makerere’s support for Uganda’s homegrown innovation ecosystem.
Kiira Motors was founded on research from Makerere Universitys own College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT) and owns 4 percent stake in kiira Motors Corporation.
This is a demonstration of how university knowledge can be translated into practical solutions that serve society.
Note that of the three bus ,the management and team at Kiira Motors generously contributed the electric bus to Students with disabilities.
Together with the University staff and in company of the university guild president, Proff Nawangwe says the initiative is not only advancing sustainable transport and green technology, but also reaffirming the shared vision of a modern, inclusiv and innovation-driven Uganda.
